Every men should know by now eating banana can improve male fertility. I read Star Newspaper yesterday that men can improve their fertility by eating a banana every three days, as reported by Sin Chew Daily. Quoting a Singaporean urologist, the daily reported that the fruit can increase sperm count as it contains high level of magnesium to produce sperm cells. Taking food like cashew nuts, potato, spaghetti and seafood will also have a similar effect, according to the doctor. He advised men to avoid drinking alcohol, smoking, taking a hot shower or spending time in a sauna as these can affect the production of sperm.
Along with other fruits and vegetables, consumption of bananas is associated with a reduced risk of colorectal cancer and in women, breast cancer and renal cell carcinoma. Bananas contain considerable amounts of vitamin B6, vitamin C, and potassium. The latter makes them of particular interest to athletes who use them to quickly replenish their electrolytes. In India, juice is extracted from the corm and used as a home remedy for jaundice, sometimes with the addition of honey, and for kidney stones. Banana also believe to help maintenance of our night vision, as prevention for peptic ulcers and hypertension.
Banana can also help lower blood pressure. A study was carried out at Johns Hopkins University, US in 1997. Its findings focussed on the role played by potassium, a mineral known as an electrolyte. Potassium works with sodium to help regulate fluid balance. The study suggested that a daily intake of 2,300 mg of potassium - about five bananas - may lower blood pressure by about half as much as drugs can.
