It shock me a little bit when I read about yesterday news about how a woman killed a massive 464 kg crocodile. At first, I thought that she killed it with her bear hand. When I read more about it, the woman, Mary Ellen Mara-Christian had obtained a permit for South Carolina's month-long alligator hunting season. She killed the alligator, which weighed in at 1025lb (465kg) and more than 13 feet (3.9m) in length. You can find her pictures and videos with the the death crocodile all over Internet.
I had been visiting a crocodile farm last week and I cannot imagine how a woman can killed that massive thing. Even if she shot it with a gun but according to the South Carolina's Permit rules, the crocodile can only be killed on a boat. The hunting is consider part hunting, part fishing. She is just 165 cm tall and the 70 years old crocodile is almost ten times her weight. On the news, it has been told that she lure the croc with a heavy duty fishing rod and shoot it with a .22 gun. The animal cannot die just by shooting and she used a knife to sever its spinal cord.
That sound too brutal to me. Its not normal for a woman to killed an animal and show it all over the world like it is trophy. Its so horrible to see how people can easily killed another living thing for fun and fame? Keeping them in a Zoo already disturbing their natural life. What i can imagine now is that she will be using that crocodile head as a trophy for her home decoration. I read she already killed some animal before. In this modern life, do you think killing an animal is important? Even if she get a permit to killed that animal, I don't think that kind of doing should be allowed. Maybe that place in South Carolina will be full of alligators if people don't hunt and killed them?
What do you think?
